In which a hardened New Yorker gets all choked up about protest politics

by J.A. Myerson

I am so proud of what we’ve done at Occupy Wall Street.

I can buy any of 75 types of bleach in America and I know (because I’m told) that this is supposed to make me feel free. But when I enter Liberty Plaza Park and see that everyone shares their food: that’s when I begin to feel free. And it’s a level of exhileration you can’t imagine.

There is no excuse for being in New York without visiting the action. Trust me. It’s the most exciting thing you’ll do this week. They’re going to talk about this one. You will want to be able to say you were there.
