News From The Front… Er, One Of Them

NATO has accused Col. Qaddafhi of hiding behind kids and mosques.

[NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu] accused Gaddafi and his regime of “systematically and brutally attacking the Libyan people,” saying government forces “have been shelling cities, mining ports and using mosques and children’s parks as shields.”

No word yet if frustrations with Qaddafhi’s depravity is what prompted NATO forces to opt instead to blow up the rebels.

The alliance statement gave no figures on casualties from Thursday’s airstrike, but said it regretted “any possible loss of life or injuries caused by this unfortunate incident.”

Nice.

In other news, Speaker Boehner continues to be more right than President Obama on the Libyan matter.

“From the outset of this operation, Members of the House have demonstrated respect for the authority granted to the Commander-in-Chief,” Boehner said in a statement. “Unfortunately, the President has not exhibited a similar appreciation for Congress’ important job of providing oversight and accountability. Even worse, he has failed to communicate to the American people why continuing this mission is critical to our national security.”

As I’ve said all along, Boehner’s opposition to the policy is cynical and unprincipled, but I’ll take what I can get.

Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Yemen…

Let’s all go barmy, live off the Army
See the world we never saw
If we get feeling down we wander into town
And if the population should greet us with indignation
We chop off your bits because we like our hamburgers raw
